Over a Decade of Clinical Experience in HIV & Hepatitis C Prevention and Treatment

Since 2012, I’ve been committed to ending the HIV epidemic through hands-on work in clinical trials that helped bring today’s most effective HIV and hepatitis C treatments to market. My experience spans clinical research, patient education, and frontline implementation—ensuring new therapies are safe, effective, and accessible.

I’ve worked on clinical trials for:

HIV PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis):

  • Truvada, Descovy, Apretude, and Lenacapavir

HIV Treatment:

  • Stribild, Biktarvy, Genvoya, Lenacapavir, Cabenuva, & Dovato

Hepatitis C Treatment:

  • Harvoni and Viekira Pak

This background gives me a unique understanding of how these medications work—beyond the guidelines—so I can help you choose the right path for HIV prevention, DoxyPEP, or hepatitis C support

PrEP & DoxyPEP FAQ

What is PrEP and how does it prevent HIV?

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a once-daily or event-based medication that reduces your risk of getting HIV by up to 99% when taken as prescribed. It works by preventing the virus from establishing an infection in your body after exposure.

What’s the difference between Truvada, Descovy, and Apretude for PrEP?

  • Truvada: FDA-approved for all genders; taken daily
  • Descovy: Daily pill for cis men and trans women (not approved for people at risk from vaginal sex)
  • Apretude: Long-acting injectable PrEP given every 2 months

We’ll help you choose the best option based on your lifestyle and medical history.

What is DoxyPEP and how does it prevent STIs?

DoxyPEP (Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a single 200 mg dose of doxycycline taken within 72 hours after condomless sex. (BEST: 24 hours after unprotected sex, not to exceed 200 mg per day) It can reduce the risk of chlamydia by up to 88%, syphilis by up to 87%, and may modestly reduce the risk of gonorrhea (approximately 50% or less, with varying effectiveness due to resistance). DoxyPEP is especially helpful for people with multiple partners or a history of recurrent STIs.It’s especially helpful for people with multiple partners or recurrent STIs.

Is DoxyPEP safe to take regularly?

Yes, when monitored by a provider. While DoxyPEP is effective, it’s important to assess individual risk, review any side effects, and monitor for resistance. We provide ongoing telehealth support and quarterly STI testing.

Can I take PrEP and DoxyPEP at the same time?

Yes! Many of our patients take both for added protection—PrEP for HIV and DoxyPEP for bacterial STIs. We’ll create a personalized prevention plan that works for you.
